So, last August I got a full time job finally in the School District I’ve been working at.  This meant that I had to give up a few things, one of the biggest was to have to back out of being a cross country assistant coach, which was my dream from the very beginning.  Some smaller things was moving to a different school, not getting cans, scrap metal, spare change, and ruling the roost like I was used to at my previous school. Because of this change though I get to work less at Steinhafels and therefore open up more free time for myself which I’m not used to having.  I also got an apartment now and have been moving into that and finding joy in having a place like an apartment, which is very hard since I used to live in a condo.  This year I am hoping to learn how to cook a little and maybe find that special girl!! 🙂 haha a boy can dream right?!

Anyways, you haven’t heard from my friend Steph Mox lately, but she’s having another kid and moving to another state, which is hard to take sometimes because it’s been such a joy getting to visit them! If she had the time to write on her blog I guarantee it would be something of legend with the amazing things that God is doing in her and her husbands lives.  There’s certain people that when you see them, you realize there’s something different about them. They have a sort of glow around them, and that is the Mox’s.  I’ve never seen two people more in love with God than those two are and they are a shining beacon for the world to see.  I hope one day to reignite my passion for God and shine as bright as they do for his glory.

With the new year, I did purchase the bible on audiobook and have been listening to it in the car, I realize I have been fading as a Christian and want that light to burn bright within me so that everyone knows that God is alive and on the move.  So, I have been doing what I can do get back into the word and grow in my faith once again.

What’s something you’re doing this new year to get back into the swing of things? Is there anything or are you doing everything you want to be doing? How are you shining in the darkness?

Matthew 4:19-20 | Amazing

19 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 20 At once they left their nets and followed him.

In the ESV version, instead of “at once” it says “immediately”, just think about these two verses for a while. First of all, “fish for people” kind of sounds funny, what did Jesus want, for them to throw nets on people and catch them? But if you think about it, these guys lived and breathed fishing, this was their identity and profession, they were fishers, that’s pretty much all they probably knew.  So, using that analogy worked for them, they knew exactly what Jesus was asking them. But they didn’t know who Jesus was, he was just some stranger who happened to walk by and talk to them, and yet they IMMEDIATELY left their nets and followed Him. They didn’t say “ummmm we don’t know you, we’re not really interested in that.” or “let us think about it first and then we’ll let you know later if we want to follow you or not” they left at once.  They left everything that was comfortable to them, everything that they had known to follow a stranger.  They didn’t know where he was going to lead them, all they knew was that they were going to be “fishing for people”. How many people these days need to think about it, think about what it was going to do to their lives, how it was going to affect them selfishly, instead of just trusting God with their lives and going for it, giving up the comfortable for the uncomfortable….
